Wonder vs. Wander

Wonder_vs_WanderHere it is. My inaugural post. Crazy!

You know, I’m convinced that God must play basketball. It wouldn’t surprise me if He was a huge Michael Jordan fan and wore number 23 on his off days. Because just when I think I’ve got Him pressed and figured out, He head fakes and drains fifty on my sorry ass. It’s like He’s saying, “You think you know Me? You don’t know Me. I’m the Alpha and Omega, baby! My ways are higher!”

I suspect that to some of you out there, (wink, wink, to those of you who are eternally uptight) my little analogy might prick at your religious sensibilities. But I wholeheartedly believe that God enjoys keeping me guessing. He’s made that quite clear these 47 years. In fact, I believe He relishes it. He certainly excels at it…EVERY SINGLE DAY. Not that I’m complaining. Trust me; I’d rather have a caring, meddlesome Father, than an absentee dad. It’s the difference between growing up finding purpose and living with regret.

Webster’s Dictionary defines wonder as: rapt attention or astonishment at something awesomely mysterious or new to one’s experience. Whereas wander, Webster defines as: to move about without a fixed course, aim, or goal. I don’t know about you, but I prefer the first by a long shot.

What is The Seven Thunders? Listen close, for this is your first inkling.

Inkling #1:
It is the narrow road, and the one most taken. It is the great call, put upon the least likely. It is the face of courage, instilled within the heart of a child. Or as I like to say, “It is wonder versus wander.”
